Archivists specialize in the scholarly study of magic and spells, paging through ancient texts not only for new spells but also for information on the very nature of magic itself. They lack the specific focus of a specialist wizard, but make up for this with a breadth of knowledge that is unmatched by any rival school.
Starting at 2nd level, when you cast a spell with a range of either self or touch and a casting time of one action, you may increase the casting time to 1 minute. If you do so, you may cast the spell using a spell slot one level lower than normally required. A first level spell cast in this way is cast as though it were a cantrip. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence bonus (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Starting at 2nd level, you can read all writing.
Beginning at 6th level, your understanding of magic extends beyond the reach of other wizards. Choose two spells from any class of a level that you can cast. The chosen spells count as Wizard spells for you, and you may add them to your spellbook. You may add one additional spell to your spellbook in this manner at 10th and 14th levels.
Starting at 10th level, you can cast detect magic at will, without expending a spell slot.
Beginning at 14th level, you may use your bonus action before casting to etch mystical runes that will empower the spell. You have advantage on any spell attack rolls made during this turn and the targets of any spells you cast on this turn have disadvantage on its first saving throw made against the spell. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence bonus (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
