Rogue Modron

Modrons are the clockwork caretakers of the gears of Mechanus, completely focused on law, stability, and harmony. But occasionally, a modron, or even a unit of modrons, receives conflicting orders or is confronted with absolute chaos which causes the modron to become defective. As these rogue modrons continue to gain unusual experiences and insights they adopt unusual forms, often adopting the cubelike body of a quadrone but incorporating features from other modron types.

Though completely mad by modron standards, rogue modrons typically seem highly analytical and ordered to just about any other being in the multiverse. Modrons are typically genderless, though some may adopt masculine or feminine personalities. They are ageless, with no real comprehension of childhood or adulthood.

Rogue Modron Traits

Ability Score Modifier. Your Intelligence score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age. Modrons are ageless, and can live for thousands of years without ever experiencing the effects of old age.

Alignment. Modrons are lawful by nature, though rogue modrons can hypothetically be of any alignment.

Size. Rogue modrons almost universally stand exactly 6 feet tall: a three foot cube with three foot legs supporting their bodies.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Living Construct. You are immune to disease. You do not need to eat or breathe, but you can ingest food and drink if you wish. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does after 8 hours of sleep.

Exceptional Darkvision. You can see in dim light and darkness within 60 feet. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of grey.

Fixed Initiative. Rogue modrons are slow to react to chaotic situations. When they must make an Initiative roll, they always treat the result of the roll as 10.

Ordered Mind. You have advantage on saving throws against illusions and being charmed.

Vestigial Wings. Your short, stubby wings are not strong enough to allow you to fly, but they can slow yourself when you fall. As a reaction, you can slow your fall to a speed of 60 feet per round, enough that you take no damage upon landing.

Natural Armor. Your body is composed of tough, unyielding metal. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.

Analytical Mind. Your mind is adept at recalling facts and piecing together information. When you roll an Intelligence check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.
